Quad Cities restaurateur Jeff Marando wrote a Christmas song – a breezy Yuletide jingle published and recorded by one of the best pianomen of a generation.
The year was 1961. And the song is the subject of a new video series launched today, “through the Hallways of Marando’s Memories,” designed to offer an inside look at the events and people who reflected the heyday at one of the Midwest’s premier supper clubs.
The series brings to life and tells real stories about the many people and events that were part of Marando’s and the Quad Cities for more than 35 years. Milan native Mike Marando, whose family started the supper club back in the 1940s, presents the series.
“We’re excited to tell and share visual stories through the lens of their experiences and history,” said Marando. “From the many bands that played Marando’s, to those who frequented the place, each has a unique story.”
Concurrent with the video series, Marando’s Restaurant also launched a new YouTube Channel as a resource and repository for stories and new content, and unveiled a new, updated Facebook logo in the spirit of the original, green palm tree look-and-feel that graced Marando’s from 1950 to 1973.
